A 19th-century chinoiserie black and gilt japanned overmantel mirror of rectangular form with gold hatched border and decorative oriental scenes, the sides with a bold gilt ribbon motif and surmounted by the projecting head of a Chinaman within a petal roundel, flanked by two opposing recumbent winged creatures with scaled bodies, clawed feet and stylised dog / human heads.
