The scene is of fishermen along the shoreline, mending their nets and looking over their boats before setting out on to the blue waters of the Mediterranean. Behind them and topped by a vaguely ominous cloud mass, the rocky cliffs and steep-sided hills of the Amalfi coast form a most magnificent backdrop. Giardiello painted many such scenes along this beautiful coastline.
